The Blyth Academy supports the Heart Foundation both locally and nationally. A recycling bin is situated in the staff room and items are collected which are then sold in the Blyth shop. We have taken part in the annual bagathon encouraging everyone to bring in their unwanted clothes, toys and bric n' brac. Several of our former students have volunteered to work in the shop while waiting to go onto University or permanent employment.
During February we take part in the valentine appeal, when messages are written on hearts and displayed in the Open Learning Centre. Proceeds from the appeal are sent to The British Heart Foundation to be used for research into the causes of heart disease.
